Laurie A. Browngoehl, M.D. is a medical physician specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Medical Acupuncture. Dr. Browngoehl graduated from Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA in 1978. She received her medical degree (M.D.) from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1982. She then completed her internship and residency in 1985 becoming board certified in1986.
After completing her residency, Dr. Browngoehl moved to the Philadelphia area where she has held many medical leadership positions. In the 1980s she was the Director of the Orthopedic Unit at Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital and Medical Director of PM&R at Paoli Memorial Hospital. Dr. Browngoehl then became the medical director of PM&R at Mt. Sinai Hospital as well as the Chairman of PM&R at City Avenue Hospital in the 1990s. She has also authored various articles as well as textbook chapters about rehabilitation medicine.
Dr. Browngoehl opened her private practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1997. She completed training in Medical Acupuncture at the University of California Los Angeles in 2001 and has since then fully integrated acupuncture into her practice of medicine. She is licensed to practice both medicine and acupuncture in the state of Pennsylvania.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is a field that focuses on helping people who have problems with their bones, muscles, joints and nerves, and includes diagnoses such as back and neck pain, arthritis, and various injuries. Dr. Browngoehl’s professional goal is to help people improve their levels of comfort, increase their ability to participate in the activities that they enjoy, and maintain and achieve optimal health.
